Towards 100 Years - A Journey
The school was started in 1927 and has excelled in many fields, including education, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. It has provided education for more than 4,500 students from the area as well as the surrounding villages.
Its ultimate goal has evolved over time in accordance with global changes. We aim to provide quality education to nurture future generations who will be able to face the world equipped with modern technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI).
History
- 1927
The school was started in 1927 as a small hut under a tree on the premises belonging to Sri Sarvaththa Siththi Vinayagar Kovil. The trustee was instrumental in starting the school. Initially, it was agreed to pay one rupee as rent for the premises to run the school. The payment was made to the Kovil trustee board.
In 1927, the government took over all the mission schools, and our school was also included in the list.
- 1937 - 1957
In 1927, Swami Vipulananda was the Manager of Education in Batticaloa, and he visited the school in 1937. Since its establishment, the school has gradually improved and received its first permanent government building in 1957.
- 2007
After a few decades, the whole island was affected by the tsunami disaster, and our village was also badly affected. The school was subsequently provided with a new three-storey building in 2007.
- 2008
Mr. S. Manoharan served as the principal of this school until 2008. He worked dedicatedly for the betterment and development of the school.
- 2020
On 17 August 2020, the current principal was appointed to the school and introduced the Smart Education System using smart boards in the classrooms. The school continues to move towards the AI-driven world, aiming to develop students who are capable of facing future challenges and embracing emerging technologies.
